Battelle Film Club announces fall 2015 series
A documentary about the iconic FAME Recording Studios.
A silent film about a man who stumbles upon dark secrets after the death of his uncle.
A drama/comedy that follows a family on vacation in the French Alps when an avalanche hits.
Those movies and more are part of Battelle Film Club’s fall 2015 series, which kicks off Sept. 11 and runs through Nov. 6.
All shows start at 7:30 p.m. at the Battelle Auditorium on the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory campus in Richland.
Foreign language films have English subtitles.
Cost is $4 for adults and $2 for kids, with a series pass for $10.
▪ Sept. 11, The One I Love. The 2014 romantic dramedy stars Elizabeth Moss and Mark Duplas as a married couple who go on a weekend retreat at the advice of their therapist in hopes of repairing their relationship. But strange things begin to happen. The 91-minute film is rated R.
▪ Sept. 25, Muscle Shoals. The 2013 documentary centers on the FAME Recording Studios in Muscle Shoals, Ala. It features interviews with artists including Percy Sledge, Aretha Franklin, Lynyrd Skynyrd and The Rolling Stones. The 111-minute film is rated PG.
▪ Oct. 9, Living is Easy with Eyes Closed. The 2013 Spanish dramedy tells the story of a teacher obsessed with The Beatles, who dreams of meeting John Lennon and having him explain Beatles’ song lyrics. The 108-minute film isn’t rated.
▪ Oct. 23, The Call of Cthulhu and The Whisperer in Darkness. The Call, a 2005 silent fantasy/horror/mystery is based on a short story by H.P. Lovecraft. It’s 47 minutes long. Whisperer is based on a Lovecraft tale of alien horror. The 2011 film is 103 minutes.
▪ Nov. 6, Force Majeure. The 2014 Swedish dramedy follows a vacationing family confronted with a natural disaster. The father doesn’t act as expected. It’s 120 minutes and rated R.
