Dedication ceremony Friday for Maya Lin's 'Story Circles' art
Artist Maya Lin will give a talk at a dedication ceremony Aug. 27 for her series of sculptures now installed at Sacajawea State Park near Pasco.
The outdoor art -- titled Story Circles -- is part of the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission's Confluence Project, which features artwork installed at historically significant locations along the Columbia and Snake rivers.
Lin's series of sculptures tell stories about the life cycle of salmon, the seasonal circle of tribal culture as well as the trade goods cycle during that started with the Lewis and Clark Expedition.
The ceremony starts at 10 a.m. Admission is free. The park is at 2503 Sacajawea Park Road, east of Pasco, off Highway 12, between Pasco and the Snake River bridge.
