Cool Desert Nights brings classic cars, cruis’n, food and music to Richland

Cool Desert Nights, the Tri-Cities’ annual celebration of summer nights and cool cars, returns to Richland on June 26 and 27.

Cool Desert Nights is sponsored by the Richland Chamber of Commerce and features a number of activities showcasing classic cars and community.

Events are centered around the Uptown Shopping Center on George Washington Way.

The event is free to the public.

Cruisers can register online or visit the Richland Community Center, 500 Amon Park Drive.

  • Friday Night Cruise: Cruisers line up at Federal Building 4-6 p.m., Friday, June 26. Cruise begins at 6 p.m. and proceeds to Knight Street, then north and south on George Washington Way, turning around at Uptown Shopping Center.
  • Party in the Park: After Friday Night Cruise, John Dam Plaza. Live music.

  • Richland Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast, 7-11 a.m., Saturday, June 27, Jefferson Park. $5 for kids and $7 for adults.
  • Show N Shine, Saturday, June 27, Uptown Shopping Center, 1317 George Washington Way. Hundreds of vehicles will be displayed and there will be food vendors, live music and other family-friendly activities.
  • Smoke & Shine BBQ Showdown Competition, 5:30 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturday, June 27, Uptown Shopping Center. BBQ teams will compete to make the best pork spare ribs or chicken wings. Sanctioned by Pacific Northwest Barbecue Association. Judging 11 a.m.-noon. Public sampling: 11 a.m. (tickets $2) Awards 2:30-3 p.m. Leftovers sold to public.
