A new event combining musicians with networking and philanthropy opportunities is coming to the Tri-Cities music scene, and if all goes well, it’ll become a regular occurrence.

Under the Bridge will be a showcase of Tri-Cities’ musical talent and provide an opportunity to network with others in the music industry, in a donation-based format that benefits local charities.

It’s inspired by similar events in larger areas, like the Schoolnight events that began in Hollywood in 2010, and have since expanded. Artists from Schoolnights have gone on to become big names and Grammy winners, including Billie Eilish and Dua Lipa.

Attendance is donation-based — to get in, just give what you can. You can reserve your space by purchasing a ticket online, which can be done by donating at least $1 up to as much as you’re willing to give. Donations go toward local charities which are yet to be announced.

“Attendees are encouraged to reserve their donation-based tickets in advance to secure their spot at this unique event, where passion for music merges seamlessly with philanthropy and community engagement,” states the press release for the event.

Networking at Under the Bridge

Stop by the Uptown Theatre on April 12 between 6 and 8 p.m. to attend the networking session, which is accompanied by a set from DJ priestess. The DJ grew up in Tri-Cities, finding her passion for music in eastern Washington, and has since had residency at multiple Spokane clubs. She’s also performing at Treefort Music Fest in Boise this week.

You can find local artists, enthusiasts and others connected to the Tri-Cities music scene during the networking portion of the event. Whether you want to jam out to priestess’ tunes, build new connections or a little bit of both, you can make it happen at Under the Bridge.

“‘Under the Bridge’ offers more than just an opportunity to discover new music; it serves as a platform for fostering networking opportunities and strengthening community bonds,” the press release stated.

Music at Under the Bridge

Following the networking session, a musical showcase will highlight three local musicians beginning at 8 p.m. The lineup includes singer-songwriter Kaylie Dawes, indie band easyday and hip-hop artist Josiah Davis.

Kaylie Dawes was the youngest performer at the 2023 Uptown Get Down festival, taking the stage at 15 years old. She performed a mix of covers and original pieces, featuring a signature “soft girl” guitar sound and her gentle voice singing about heavy emotion. Now 16, Dawes is scheduled to return to the festival in 2024, and attendees can get a taste of her talent at Under the Bridge.

Easyday is taking the music scene by storm in preparation for their second studio album. The indie band includes bassist Griffin Durham, drummer James Bruce, Chase Krank on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, and lead guitarist Luke Vesely. They also performed at last year’s Get Down festival and have had successful gigs at several other Tri-Cities venues.

Josiah Davis is taking Dawes’ spot as the youngest performer at this year’s Tri Town Get Down festival, also at 15 years old. He’s a melodic hip-hop artist whose music features smooth vocals and heartfelt lyrics. Paving his way as a musician in the local scene, Davis is certainly a young talent to watch.
