Movie theaters plan nationwide day of $3 tickets. Here’s what you can see in Tri-Cities

Watching the latest movie releases at a Tri-Cities theater will cost only $3 for a single day.

All four theaters in town are cutting ticket prices to $3 for all movies on Saturday, Sept. 3 for National Cinema Day.

The Fairchild Cinemas and AMC Theatres are participating in a nationwide promotion to get people back into theaters in the hopes they will keep coming back.

Labor Day weekend is traditionally one of the slowest weekends in theaters, and this year the August lull has been especially acute for exhibitors, according to The Associated Press.

Moviegoing has rebounded after COVID-19, but is not back to pre-pandemic levels.

“After this summer’s record-breaking return to cinemas, we wanted to do something to celebrate moviegoing,” said Jackie Brenneman, Cinema Foundation president, in a statement. “We’re doing it by offering a ‘thank you’ to the moviegoers that made this summer happen, and by offering an extra enticement for those who haven’t made it back yet.”

The $3 movie tickets may include some extra charges, such as taxes. Tickets are on sale on online now.
