A Richland High alternative rock band is taking to a bigger stage this weekend.

RoomFortyOneTen swept the school’s talent show honors last fall and then performed recently at D’s Wicked Cider House with a set of four cover songs.

Now, on Saturday, the group that’s grown to eight musicians plans a free concert at the Fingernail Stage at Howard Amon Park in Richland.

Their 20-song set will include cover songs, along with some original songs. An opening band performs at 6 p.m. before RoomFortyOneTen begins at 6:45 p.m.

The band includes sophomore Quinton Perry on drums, senior Maxmillian Bunnage on keyboards and vocals, freshman Abe VanDevender on bass, sophomore Cooper Holcombe on guitar and banjo, senior Joey Cotta on guitar, junior Tanner Beach on trumpet, senior Matthew Skadorwa on tenor saxophone and senior Alex Marquez on alto saxophone.

The band took its name from the number of the classroom when three of them first started playing.

It was music and guitar teacher Greg Fryhling’s Room 4110, and he opened it up for the band to practice in during lunch.

“I’m looking forward to seeing how the audience reacts because I think people are going to be really impressed with this group of high schoolers and how professional they sound,” Fryhling said. “You would not pick them out as high school students if you just happened to be listening.”
