Tri-Cities hip-hop team shakes it up for NBC’s America’s Got Talent
A group of Tri-Cities high schoolers could soon make their national television debut.
The Pasco High School Schwanna Bulldogs dance team were recently invited to audition for the 17th season of America’s Got Talent.
It’s a tightly held secret how the hip-hop group’s flashy choreography fared.
The group, led by Rebecca Schwan, was just in L.A. a week ago but everyone is sworn to secrecy about their routine and their chances of advancing.
The national talent competition showcases people of all ages showing off their talents — from daredevil acts to singers and dancers — in front of four celebrity judges for a chance to win $1 million.
It’s one of the biggest shows on TV with millions of weekly viewers. The team has 90 seconds to show off their skills.
And after two seasons of COVID-19 restrictions, a full audience will return for the upcoming season, according to NBC Insider.
Auditions wrapped up in April, but initial results cannot be released until the season premiere on Tuesday, May 31, at 8 p.m. on NBC.
Earlier this year, the Pasco High dance team showed off its skills at state competitions, winning first place overall at one recent event.
As of 2021, the team had eight state competition wins under their belt from both the show and hip-hop categories, according to SWX.
This year, the team got its ninth win after placing first overall, adding on to wins in 2016 and 2019.
