Hanford drama presents the musical comedy
Hanford High Drama presents “My Favorite Year” beginning Jan. 31.
The hilarious musical, written by Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens, is based on the popular Peter O’Toole film of the same name.
“ ‘My Favorite Year’ is a musical filled with laughter, love, and life lessons. This story will be sure to delight and entertain,” a news release said.
Shows are Jan. 31, Feb. 1, 5, 7 & 8 at 7:30 p.m. with a matinee show on Feb. 8 at 2 p.m. at the Hanford High School Auditorium, 450 Hanford St., Richland..
Tickets for the premium seats are $15 and regular seats are $12. They are available online at www.hanforddrama.org or at the door.
Portland band Resolectrics to perform in Richland
The Portland band The Resolectrics will perform Jan. 24 at Emerald of Siam in Richland.
Show begins at 9 p.m.
The Resolectrics are a rock and soul power trio exploring the vast landscapes of roots music with layered harmonies, multi-tonal guitar tracks and ambitious arrangements, said a release.
They’re touring in support of their latest album, “Open Seas,” which adds some timeless, British Invasion-style psychedelia to the mix, along with a touch of horns and harmonica that help reconnect the music to its soul-based heritage, the release said.

Christie mystery thriller coming to Walla Walla stage
The Little Theatre of Walla Walla will stage the Agatha Christie’s mystery thriller “Murder on the Orient Express” with performances Jan. 31 through Feb. 16.
“Just after midnight, a snowdrift stops the Orient Express in its tracks. The luxurious train is surprisingly full for the time of the year, but by the morning it is one passenger fewer. An American tycoon lies dead in his compartment, stabbed a dozen times, his door locked from the inside. Isolated and with a killer in their midst, detective Hercule Poirot must identify the murderer — in case he or she decides to strike again,” a release said.
Performances are Jan. 31, Feb. 1, 7, 8, 14, and 15 at 7:30 p.m. and Feb. 9 and 16 at 2 p.m. The content of the play is equivalent to a PG-13 movie rating.
Tickets are $20 for adults an $15 for students and youth and will be available online at www.ltww.org beginning Tuesday, Jan. 28. Season pass holders may call the box office at 509-529-3683 on Monday, Jan. 27 to reserve their seats in advance.

Miss Juneteenth registration now open
Registration is now open to sign up for this year’s Miss Juneteenth scholarship pageant. Deadline to register is Feb. 16. The pageant is open to African-American girls in grades 10 to 12.
“This is an awesome opportunity for high school girls from various schools to meet each other and develop long-lasting friendships while competing for a scholarship,” a news release said.

Three Rivers Folklife Society offering contra dance
Three Rivers Folklife Society is holding its monthly contra dance Friday, Feb. 1.
The dance is 7 to 10 p.m. at Lighthouse Church Tri-Cities, 1007 Wright Ave., Richland.
Admission is $8 for adults and $5 for students and seniors.
Contra dance workshops are being offered before the dance. A free beginner’s introduction is 1 to 2:30 p.m with an advanced workshops from 3 to 4:30. Admission to the advanced workshop is $5.
Contra dancing is a kind of folk dancing. Partners aren’t required and lessons will be given.
Lumineers to perform Aug. 15 at the Gorge
The Lumineers plan a concert Aug. 15 at the Gorge Amphitheatre.
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Jan. 31.
