Information on new Chicano/Latino culture museum on display Saturday
Want to learn more about the new Sea Mar Museum of Chicano/Latino Culture opening this year in Seattle?
Information will be on display Saturday in the Tri-Cities.
Hours are 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Mid-Columbia Libraries branch in Pasco and from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Kennewick branch.
Community members are invited to bring old photos, diaries and other records to donate to the museum.
“We recognize the role that heritage and culture play in the health and well-being of communities across the state,” Rogelio Riojas, CEO of Sea Mar Community Health Centers, said in a news release. “Today, there is no such museum in the region that tells the stories of contributions Latino communities continue to make in areas like the Tri-Cities, the Yakima Valley and Walla Walla. The Sea Mar Museum of Chicano/Latino Culture will serve this purpose. It will be the first of its kind in the Pacific Northwest.”
