Award-winning Tri-City filmmaker raising money for next project
A local filmmaker is raising money to cover music licensing for his next project, a coming of age story set in the 1980s.
Michael Charboneau plans to use tunes by Quiet Riot, Ratt, Poison, Twisted Sister, Bon Jovi, Autograph and other acts in his film, which is called Turn It Up.
People who donate will be eligible for perks from guitar picks and movie posters to a walk-on role in the film. Music licensing is expected to cost more than $100,000.
The project is endorsed by Steve Lynch, lead guitarist of Autograph. He’s contributing to some perks, including concert tickets.
If the fundraising is successful, production on Turn It Up will start in spring 2018 and the film will be released that fall.
Charboneau directed the award-winning film The Promise. He’s cable coordinator for Richland’s government access channel CityView.
