‘Star Trek’ anniversary celebration planned Oct. 1 in Richland

A celebration to mark the 50th anniversary of Star Trek is planned Oct. 1 in Richland.

The event — coordinated by U.S.S. Antares, a chapter of the Star Trek fan club STARFLEET International — runs from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Richland Public Library.

The celebration will include displays, door prizes, activities, a birthday cake and presentations from Dave Foster, who worked in the Star Trek industry for years and has insider information about the actors, movies and upcoming Star Trek offerings.

Attendees are asked to bring a food donation for the Tri-Cities Food Bank.

The library is at 955 Northgate Drive.
