Mini Motorways' 'Lokum Lanes' Update Brings Istanbul To The Map

Dinosaur Polo Club rolled out one of the most delightful free updates of the year last week. Mini Motorways, the studio's award-winning minimalist traffic management sim, just got Lokum Lanes, a free update that brings the bustling streets of Istanbul into the game's growing collection of real-world cities. The update is available now across all current platforms: PC and Mac via Steam, Nintendo Switch, and Apple Arcade.

Istanbul's Lokum Lanes

The new Istanbul map is built around the cultural and geographic richness of Türkiye's largest city. Istanbul is a place where over 15 million commuters move daily across roads, bridges, and the Bosphorus Strait. That last detail is the headline mechanic here: boats are back. Players can connect city sections with bridges, use the Bosphorus Strait ferry to clear road traffic, and travel fresh waterways with boat terminals. We haven't seen boats for a while, so this is a nice return.

Istanbul is the second of four maps Dinosaur Polo Club plans to release throughout 2026. Cape Town kicked off the year in the Tabletop Traffic update, focusing on the South African city's mountain-hemmed coastal geography with tunnels and bridges. Istanbul shifts the focus to maritime navigation. The remaining two maps haven't been formally announced beyond Singapore being next, chosen by player votes.

Game Over? More Like Game Forever

The other headline addition is what might be the most-requested feature in the game's history: Creative Mode can now continue after hitting Game Over. Players who love the meditative city-planning loop but bristled at the abrupt end can now keep their runs going in any other mode after the dreaded red light appears. Got caught off-guard by a sudden rise in traffic? No worries! You can continue getting passengers clogging the road until you can get your wits together to find a fix. It's honestly surprising that the game didn't have this feature until now.

"If I had to use one word to describe this update, it's 'delectable!'"says Dinosaur Polo Club Publishing Operations Manager Aditia Hasib, Publishing Operations Manager. "This map has been highly requested by Mini players, and we're so excited to finally be able to bring it to them. Singapore is next up, decided entirely by player votes!"

Istanbul is playable across all of Mini Motorways' game modes: Classic, Endless, Expert, and Creative, along with the standard Daily Challenges, Weekly Challenges, and City Challenges. The 9 million-plus player community has been one of the more passionate puzzle-game audiences on the platform, and Dinsoaur Polo Club just keeps on giving this community more reasons to stick around.

The Lokum Lanes update is available now for free on all current platforms. The base game is available on Steam, Nintendo Switch, and Apple Arcade.
