Elle Woods Heads to Seattle in ‘Legally Blonde' Prequel ‘Elle' Trailer

Years before Harvard Law, Elle Woods was struggling to find her footing in Seattle.

In the new trailer for the upcoming “Legally Blonde” prequel series “Elle,” the titular character (Lexi Minetree) is initially embracing her life in Los Angles, saying, "I would just like to raise a glass to all of you. My friends, my world. I’m so lucky to have this life. I wouldn't change a thing."

However, she is in for a surprise when her parents announced that the family in moving to Seattle, a decision which she immediately declares “doesn’t sound right.”

When she arrives at her new high school in signature pink, she quickly realizes that she doesn’t fit in and feels like a fish out of water.

"I'm Elle. I like ice coffee, the month of July and when people dress kind of tennis-y, even if they don’t play tennis,” she tells a classmate, who replies, “Did someone put you up to this?"

After realizing that she doesn’t “speak the same language as anyone here,” she tries to blend in by wearing a black and pink Nirvana shirt.

However, it doesn’t go over well with her classmates, one quickly snaps, "Did no one ever tell you that we don’t do posers here? Seattle isn’t a costume and pink isn’t a personality."

"What if I really am the vapid LA girl they all think I am?" Elle asks her mom, who tells her daughter, "You know who you are. You’re a Gemini."

Despite her struggle to fit in, Elle finds herself in the middle some high school hijinks when she helps a group of students try to break into the principal’s office to prove that he “fudges facts on official paperwork.”

In the upcoming series, fans will meet Elle “in 1995 as a fish in the tumultuous waters of high school where she encounters tricky friendships, forbidden romance, and questionable fashion choices,” according to an official synopsis.

“Through it all, Elle uses her family as a touchstone, and forms an even tighter bond to her mother, proving that they can get through anything life throws their way as long as they have each other,” the description continues. “With each challenge she faces, Elle grows closer to the Elle Woods we know and love today.”

“Elle” premieres July 1 on Prime Video.
