'90s Country Star Vince Gill Mourns the Loss of a 'Legendary Voice'

Vince Gill is joining the rest of the country music community in saying goodbye to beloved Grand Ole Opry announcer and longtime country radio personality, Bill Cody.

Cody, who spent over 30 years working for WSM radio and hosted the station's popular morning show, "Coffee, Country and Cody," died on Tuesday, June 9 after having been hospitalized and in critical condition for a number of weeks. He was 67.

Cody's death was confirmed on Tuesday, and tributes from some of country music's biggest stars have been pouring in ever since, including a solemn statement from Gill uploaded to Instagram on Wednesday, June 10.

Posted alongside a throwback photo of Gill visiting Cody's radio show back in the day, the Instagram caption on Gill's post read: "Vince and the entire country community are mourning the loss of @WSMRadio and @Opry legendary voice, Bill Cody."

"So many memories, good times, and great conversations about music," the statement continued. "He will be greatly missed!"

Gill, 69, isn't the only country music star to pay tribute to Cody in the wake of his death, as a number of other artists in the industry, like Trisha Yearwood, Darius Rucker, Tracy Lawrence, Clint Blackand many more have also expressed their condolences on social media.

The social media pages for WSM radio also posted in Cody's honor on Tuesday, celebrating the legacy and the numerous accomplishments that Cody achieved throughout his prolific career, like earning a spot in the Country Music Hall of Fame and a star on the Music City Walk of Fame, to name a few.

But "more than his accolades," as the post reads, "Bill will be remembered for his kindness, humility, and genuine gift for connection. He was a trusted voice, a generous friend, and a constant companion to generations of listeners."
