Country Star Jackson Dean Honors Gregg Allman in New Song
Gregg Allman is a legendary musician and has lots of respect in the music world, and now, a new documentary about him, “The Music of My Soul,” has premiered in New York City. So, what music is in the movie? It’s obviously a lot of Allman music, but there’s also a song track by country star Jackson Dean.
The song, “My Cross to Bear,” is at the very end of the movie. The song is a special tribute to the musician and personality behind the Allman Brothers Band and brilliant tunes like “Midnight Rider,” ‘Whipping Post” and “I’m No Angel.”
"Gregg Allman's music is woven into the fabric of American culture, and this film captures both the artistry and the humanity behind the legend," Brian Levy of Subtext said in a statement. "We're proud to bring the film to American audiences, offering devoted fans rare insight and archival material while introducing Gregg's legacy to a new generation."

Subtext, by the way, is the U.S. independent film production and distribution company that acquired the North American rights to the film.

"This film captures his true essence, and it's profoundly meaningful to be able to share his remarkable story with the world. Gregg's music has outlived him and will bring joy to many generations in the future."

After the show’s premiere, which happened on Tuesday, June 9, After the Big Apple premiere, “Gregg Allman: The Music of My Soul” will head to Macon, Georgia, for a hometown opening on Thursday, June 11. Plus, it will be in Los Angeles and New York for a week before heading to theaters nationwide on June 17. You can find plenty of screenings on the film’s official website.
