Lords of the Fallen II Expands the Dark Fantasy Saga With a New Kingdom and Greater Threats

Following the success of 2023's Lords of the Fallen reboot, developer Hexworks and publisher CI Games are preparing to continue the series with Lords of the Fallen II. Officially announced during Gamescom 2025, the sequel is scheduled to launch in 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, bringing players back to a dark fantasy world where the boundary between life and death is beginning to collapse.

Lords of the Fallen II is once again a dark fantasy action RPG built around challenging Soulslike combat. According to official descriptions, players will embark on an adventure across a shattered kingdom threatened by the continuing spread of the Umbral darkness, a force that has consumed entire nations and realms over the centuries. The world stands on the brink of extinction, and humanity has been left vulnerable as ancient powers fade and darkness continues to advance.

The sequel takes place roughly one hundred years after the events of the 2023 game. During that time, the Umbral calamity has continued to spread across the world, weakening the barrier between the living realm and the realm of the dead. According to CI Games, the situation has become so dire that even the gods now fear the growing darkness. Humanity finds itself increasingly isolated, with survival depending on a new hero capable of confronting forces that seem immortal.

Faster Combat and Greater Challenges

Battles are designed to be faster, more decisive, and more aggressive than before. The developers have focused on improving the flow between attacks, dodges, counters, and executions, encouraging players to take calculated risks while rewarding precise timing and positioning. New execution animations are also being introduced to make encounters feel even more brutal.

Boss encounters will continue to play a major role throughout the adventure. Official descriptions promise colossal enemies and difficult confrontations designed to test player skill and mastery of the combat system. As with the previous game, both melee and ranged combat options will be available, alongside various magical abilities and character builds.

Although a specific release date has not yet been announced, Lords of the Fallen II is currently planned for release in 2026. With a new kingdom, a century of history separating it from its predecessor, and a greater emphasis on combat and the Umbral realm, the sequel aims to build upon the foundation established by the reboot while pushing the series into even darker territory.
