Resident Evil Veronica Finally Brings Code: Veronica Back With a Full Remake in 2027
For years, Resident Evil fans have asked the same question: when will Code: Veronica receive the remake treatment? Following the successful remakes of Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and the less-than-necessary Resident Evil 4, many players considered Code: Veronica the most obvious candidate for a modern reimagining. Now, after years of speculation, Capcom has officially answered that question with the announcement of Resident Evil Veronica, a full remake of the 2000 survival horror classic.
The game was revealed during Summer Game Fest 2026 and is currently scheduled to launch in 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. The announcement marks the return of one of the franchise's most requested entries and continues Capcom's ongoing effort to modernize key games from Resident Evil's early years.
Resident Evil Veronica is a remake of Resident Evil Code: Veronica, which originally launched in 2000. The original game occupied an important place in the series timeline, taking place after the events of Resident Evil 2 and following Claire Redfield as she continues searching for her brother, Chris Redfield. Along the way, she becomes entangled in a new outbreak connected to Umbrella and the Ashford family.
One of the Most Requested Resident Evil Remakes
Although it was never given a numbered title, many players viewed it as a major continuation of the story established in Resident Evil 2. Over the years, it became one of the most frequently requested games for a remake, especially after Capcom revisited other classic entries using the RE Engine.
The announcement of Resident Evil Veronica effectively fills what many fans considered the biggest remaining gap in Capcom's remake lineup. Community discussions surrounding the reveal have reflected years of anticipation, with many players celebrating the fact that the game now has an official Steam page and a confirmed release window.
The Resident Evil brand continues strongly with its numbered entries, since Requiem was an all out success. But for many fans, the Resident Evil Veronica may be the title they have been waiting for longer than any other.
