Legendary Grammy Winner, 94, in 'Good Spirits' After Hospitalization

Grammy-winning record producer Clive Davis is in "good spirits" after being discharged from the hospital following an almost week-long stay.

The 94-year-old music legend, who is credited with launching the careers of superstars like Janis Joplin, Bruce Springsteen, and Whitney Houston, is at home resting after being released from a New York City hospital on Thursday, June 4.

"Clive was discharged from the hospital earlier today," a spokesperson for Davis told PEOPLE. "He is in good spirits and happy to be recuperating at home."

Davis was originally hospitalized on May 29 after the music mogul's spokesperson told TMZ he had been suffering from an upper respiratory infection. The rep said at the time that Davis was admitted to the hospital out of an abundance of caution.

Just days before his health scare, the former Columbia Records president was photographed attending the Gordon Parks Foundation Awards Dinner and Auction in New York City on May 19.

Davis, who started out his career as a lawyer, is credited with signing some of the biggest acts of all time, including Pink Floyd, Chicago, Aerosmith, and Earth, Wind and Fire, as well as Billy Joel and Neil Diamond.

Davis has been awarded five Grammys throughout his tenure in the music industry and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000 as a non-performer.

The Arista Records co-founder has had previous public health struggles, postponing his annual pre-Grammy Gala in 2021 after being diagnosed with Bell's palsy. Bell's palsy is a "neurological disorder that causes paralysis or weakness on one side of the face," as per the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke. "It occurs when one of the nerves that controls muscles in the face becomes injured or stops working properly." Bell's palsy is the most common cause of facial paralysis.
