The Romance That Became a Real-Life Scandal Is Leaving Netflix June 9 - Watch It Before It's Gone

One of the most controversial movies in the past few years is leaving Netflix in days. But it wasn't the on-screen drama that caused the backlash against It Ends With Us. Instead, a behind-the-scenes battle sparked one of the most high-profile celeb-versus-celeb legal battles in recent history.

In 2024, It Ends With Us made its big-screen debut. At the time, rumors surfaced about an alleged dispute between the film's star, Blake Lively, and her co-star/director,Justin Baldoni. Later that year, Lively filed a complaint with the California Civil Rights Department, accusing Baldoni of sexual harassment. And it didn't end there.

Following the complaint, Lively filed a lawsuit against the actor and Wayfarer Studios again for sexual harassment, as well as for creating a hostile work environment and for a malicious smear campaign against her.

Baldoni denied the allegations and countersued Lively (and her husband Ryan Reynolds) for $400 million. A judge dismissed Baldoni's lawsuit in June 2025. After months of a very public he-said/she-said, a federal judge dismissed much of Lively's lawsuit on April 2, 2026.

The dispute finally ended on May 4, 2026, when both of the film's stars reached a settlement. Or did it? According to recent reports, Lively is taking Baldoni back to court, requesting that her former co-star pay for legal fees.

Why is ‘It Ends With Us' leaving Netflix?

The controversy-filled film is set to exit the streaming service on June 9, 2026, according to Newsweek. That means you only have a few days to catch the flick.

Netflix only had an 18-month streaming window deal with Sony Pictures, giving the film a limited time run. Now that the window is getting ready to expire, the movie is leaving.

This is a common agreement between entertainment platforms (like Netflix) and movie production companies. The limited-time viewing window can maximize revenue, benefiting both parties.

Where can you watch ‘It Ends With Us' after it leaves Netflix?

Even though you only have a few days left to watch It Ends With Us on Netflix, you can rent the movie for $3.99 on Apple TV+, Amazon Prime Video, YouTube, Google Play Movies, and Fandango At Home right now or stream it for free on Hulu starting June 9.
