Miranda Lambert Reveals Why a New No. 1 Hitmaker Pushed Her to Say: 'Call Taylor Swift Right Now'

MirandaLambert gave her new friend and collaborator, EllaLangley, some great advice.

As Langley has been thrown into the spotlight by her recent country music hits, including "Choosin' Texas" and "You Look Like You Love Me," she found herself with a few questions for the "Gunpowder and Lead" singer. Lambert spoke to Billboard about their relationship in a recent cover story interview.

The country music icon told the outlet, she's "really just kind of a hype girl" for Langley. "I'm either talking her off a ledge or hyping her up, because she knows exactly what she wants."

Adding, "We're girls; we talk each other off the ledge all the time."

After the duo wrote the country hit "Choosin' Texas" together, Langley didn't know how to react.

The 42-year-old told her she hasn't "seen anything like it" in her career. "So when Ella calls and is like, ‘What does this mean?' I'm like, ‘I don't know. You might need to call TaylorSwift right now [and ask her], because this is, like, that kind of big,'" Lambert said.

"Choosin' Texas" became Langley's first single to reach No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. It was released in October 2025 on her album Dandelion.

The album held a first for Lambert as well.

"I've never had a record in the world that I was just a co-producer, not the artist - so Dandelion has been a pretty cool feeling," the "Kerosene" singer said. "I was texting Jon Randall, my best friend and co-producer, like, ‘I've never known the feeling that this is before, just having a beautiful masterpiece in the world that I got to have a hand in doing that doesn't say my name on the front.' It's really a crazy feeling and I love it."

Lambert is glad to help Langley navigate country music fame.

"What I've done is try to use the knowledge that I've gained by being in the industry for over 20 years to really lift up the younger generations coming up and trying to be there for them and answer questions," she shared. "Sometimes I know the right way to do it, because I did it wrong."
