Chipotle Is Giving Away 53,000 Free Burritos After the Knicks-Spurs Game - Here's How to Get One

Chipotle is giving away 53,000 burritos - and here's how you can get yours! Basketball fans already know that the June 3 matchup between the New York Knicks and the San Antonio Spurs is a must-watch event. But now they have another reason to tune in.

In celebration of the chain's new "53 Years. 53 Real Ingredients" campaign, Chipotle is treating 53,000 customers to the eatery's beloved burritos for free.

How can customers get a free Chipotle burrito?

Chipotle will post a text-to-win code on X immediately after the final game of the series. All you need to do is text the code to 888-222 for your chance to score a freebie. But don't wait. Only the first 53,000 customers will get the chance to snag this delicious deal.

Why is Chipotle giving away 53,000 free burritos?

What is so important about the number 53? Knicks or Spurs fans may already know the answer. The year 1973 is important to both teams. It was the last time the New York Knicks won the NBA Championships, and it was also the San Antonio Spurs' first season as a professional basketball team. If you do the math, 1973 was exactly 53 years ago. And that's why Chipotle is giving away 53,000 free burritos during this year's NBA Championship.

Senior Vice President of Brand Marketing at Chipotle, Stephanie Perdue, said of the new offer, "This year's series created a connection we couldn't ignore: 53 years tied to a unique championship storyline and 53 real ingredients that define Chipotle."

Perdue continued, "Giving away 53,000 free burritos is our way of bringing the story to life for fans."

Along with the giveaway, Chipotle is introducing two new high-protein meals as featured digital menu items named after NBA stars in honor of the Finals: New York Knicks' Josh Hart and Mikal Bridges.

Josh Hart's High Protein Burrito (95 grams of protein) features white rice, double adobo chicken, black beans, fresh tomato salsa, sour cream, and cheese. Mikal Bridges' High Protein Bowl (71 grams of protein) includes white rice, double adobo chicken, tomatillo-green chili salsa, roasted chili-corn salsa, and lettuce. These digital order items are only available for a limited time.
