Rayman Legends Retold Brings Rayman Back To The Glade Of Dreams This October

Rayman is back. Properly back. During tonight's Sony State of Play, Ubisoft revealed Rayman Legends Retold, a full 3D reimagining of the beloved 2013 platformer, launching on October 1, 2026. The game will be available across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, GeForce Now, Blacknut, and PC through Steam, the Epic Games Store, and Ubisoft Connect. Ubisoft+ subscribers get day-one access on the Standard Edition.

It's been 13 years since Rayman Legends originally launched on PS3 and Xbox 360, and even longer since fans got something that felt like a real return to form for the franchise. Rayman Legends Retold isn't just a remaster - it's a ground-up reimagining with a brand new story, fully voiced cinematics, a never-before-seen sixth realm, and a complete shift from the original's 2.5D side-scrolling presentation to fully realized 3D. Ubisoft Montpellier (the original Rayman Legends studio) is back, this time with Ubisoft Milan supporting development.

The Glade of Dreams Calls Once More

The premise puts players back alongside Rayman, Globox, Barbara, Grand Minimus, and Murphy on a new adventure to restore peace to the Glade of Dreams, this time threatened by a shadowy villain spreading chaos across the realms. Solo play is supported, as is up to four-player couch co-op. The core platforming loop - leap, glide, punch your way through fast-paced levels filled with hidden Teensies to rescue - returns alongside epic boss battles, dragon rides, the Cave of Trials, and four brand new musical stages.

"Rayman Legends Retold is our way of revisiting what makes Rayman so special, and re-telling that experience for a new generation of players," said Brand Producer Loïc Gounon in the press release. "We wanted to preserve everything fans love, and Legends gave us the perfect foundation to expand Rayman's lore, its world logic, and how everything connects together." The phrasing matters - this isn't framed as a nostalgia play. It's framed as expanding Rayman's universe using Legends as the foundation.

What's New, What's Expanded

Beyond the visual overhaul and full voice acting, Rayman Legends Retold expands meaningfully on the original's content. The reimagined Glade of Dreams is described as more immersive than ever, with new character encounters scattered throughout. Kung Foot - the original's beloved minigame - returns with improved controls, power-ups, and customizable rules. The soundtrack blends fan-favorite original themes with new compositions from acclaimed composers Christophe Héral (returning from the original game) and Grant Kirkhope (Banjo-Kazooie, Yooka-Laylee, Donkey Kong 64). Having Kirkhope on board specifically is the kind of musical pedigree that signals Ubisoft understands what made the original soundtrack such a defining part of the experience.

Editions and Pre-Order Bonuses

Rayman Legends Retold launches at a suggested retail price of $39.99 USD for the standard edition. Players who pre-order any edition will receive the Hoodlum Havoc Pack, featuring two costumes for Rayman and Globox inspired by 2003's Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc - a deep cut that veteran fans will appreciate.

Standard Edition ($39.99) includes the base game and Rayman Origins: Enhanced Edition, which features 4K resolution, 60 FPS, new collectibles and rewards, haptic feedback for compatible controllers, and modern quality-of-life features. Getting Rayman Origins as a bundled enhanced release is genuinely substantial value at $40.

Deluxe Edition (digital only) adds the Retro Pack with four costumes - Classic Rayman, Betilla The Fairy for Barbara, Retro Hunter for Globox, and Electoon Teensie for Grand Minimus - plus an Art Gallery. Launch Edition (retail only) includes a physical Glade of Dreams printed map, three lithographs, and a slipcase. A separate Deluxe Upgrade Pack is available digitally for Standard Edition owners who want the cosmetics and gallery later.

What This Means for Rayman's Future

This announcement lands squarely in the middle of Ubisoft's broader Rayman revival effort. Insider Gaming reported late last year that Ubisoft was actively prioritizing Rayman content, with both a remake project and preliminary plans for Rayman 4 reportedly in development. Today's Rayman Legends Retold reveal confirms the first half of that picture, and gives the franchise its first proper mainline release in over a decade. If Retold lands well commercially and critically, expectations for Rayman 4 will accelerate considerably.
