'Little House on the Prairie' Reboot Casts 2 More Iconic Characters-With a Twist
Ahead of the The Little House on the Prairie reboot series premiere, Netflix just announced two new cast members who will play iconic characters in Season 2-but with a twist.
On June 2, Deadline reported that Rachelle Lefevre will play Eva Beadle, the beloved school teacher of Laura Ingalls Wilder (Alice Halsey) and her sister, Mary (Skywalker Hughes). Meanwhile, Charlotte Sullivan will play Margaret Oleson, the mother of Nellie Oleson (Willa Dunn).
In addition to changing Nellie's mom's name from Harriet to Margaret, her character description hints that the character will be different, too. Deadline described her as " beautiful, high-energy, charming, unfiltered, fun and funny" woman with"quick wit" and gallows humor" who "adores her daughter fiercely and completely, but also fears losing her love."
Miss Beadle seems to have remained much the same from the original LHOTP, which aired from 1974 to 1983. Deadline described her as an "open-minded, passionate, forthright and brave" teacher who is "well-read, adventurous, generous of spirit" and "a world-traveler.
On Instagram, the official Little House on the Prairie account shared side-by-side photos of Lefevre and Sullivan with an announcement of its own. "Season 2 of Little House on the Prairie is growing its cast. 😍," the update read.

In the comments, many LHOTP fans immediately noticed Nellie's mom's name change. One Instagram user pointed out, "Nellie's Mother is called Harriet in Laura's books, NOT Margaret 🙄Margaret is the real name of the mother of one of three girls (Nettie) who inspired Nellie Oleson, but in the novels, her name is Harriet!"
Another exclaimed, "Harriet!! Who's Margaret??"
Someone else echoed, "Why TF is it Margaret and not Harriet?"
Meanwhile, a different follower shared, "I just hope this version of Mrs. Olsen is nicer."
Twilight fans might recognize Lefevre as Victoria from the first two films of the franchise. More recently, she appeared in an episode each of Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent, and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Meanwhile, Sullivan has appeared in shows like Chicago Fire, Law & Order: Organized Crime, Blue Bloods, and more.
The Little House on the Prairie reboot-also starring Crosby Fitzgerald as Caroline "Ma" Ingalls and Luke Bracey as Charles "Pa" Ingalls-premieres on July 9 on Netflix.
