Legendary Actor Calls Upcoming Film the 'Biggest Movie He's Ever Done' in Brand New BTS Footage

2026's summer of releases in the film world has been everything other than what one would traditionally expect. With all the insanity of this years release lineup, perhaps one thing has stayed consistent, and that is the hype for The Odyssey, which Matt Damon has just called his "biggest film ever."

The acclaimed follow up to Christopher Nolan's best picture winning historical epic Oppenheimer has been one of the most talked about releases of the year, whether its excited anticipation from Nolan's massive fanbase, or discourse about the film's deviations from the historical basis of the original text, the project has been in headlines.

My particular interest in the film, which I share with a lot of others across the internet, is in how the adaptation of the text will work on a technical level. Nolan has always been a fanatic about realism within his cinematic worlds, especially when that comes to practical effects. The most memorable of his commitments to not using CGI came with Oppenheimer, which utilized analogue methods of achieving some of the stunning visuals, including the atom bomb being detonated.

With the fantastical nature of the story, The Odyssey's commitment to keeping things practical has everyone intrigued, which has now had some light shed on it in a brand new behind the scenes featurette.

"This is definitely the biggest movie I've ever done in my career, in terms of its scale," Matt Damon (who stars as Odysseus) states at the beginning of the video, which is certainly backed up by the other glowing remarks from the actors who star in the film.

"A Great filmmaker like Christopher Nolan can do scope, and action, and fantasy, but also heart, and humanity, and depth, and rawness," Zendaya, portraying Athena, passionately exclaimed.

"I feel like this particular picture is an accumulation of all of his skills and all of his experiences and him at his best, going for it," Tom Holland, who portrays Telemachus, remarked.

"I just can't wait to see what they've come up with," Robert Pattinson adds, who plays the villain of the story, Antinous.

The Odyssey releases on July 17th, and is set to be one of the cinematic events of the year. I'll be in theaters to see if Nolan can stick the landing on his most ambitious project yet!
