Netflix Is Quietly Removing All Eight Seasons of Apocalyptic Family Drama This Summer
If you haven't watched Fear the Walking Dead yet, now is your sign to get binging! All eight seasons are leaving Netflix toward the end of the summer.
You have until August 19, 2026, according to What's On Netflix, which announced not just about Fear the Walking Dead, but four other licensed shows. This only applies to the U.S. side of things, and it likely falls in line with the licensing deal with AMC Networks running out.
Why 'Fear the Walking Dead' Joined Netflix
The Walking Dead spinoff series was originally added to Netflix in the middle of 2024, as part of a larger licensing deal with AMC Networks. Shows such as A Discovery of Witches and Interview with the Vampire also joined the streaming platform to get more attention on the AMC original shows.
This deal was always intended to be a short-term one, and now that is coming to an end for the apocalyptic family drama. There are 113 episodes in total, so you have time before August to binge your way through them all.
Is 'Fear the Walking Dead' a Good Show?
Fear the Walking Dead is set at the beginning of the zombie apocalypse outbreak in the world of The Walking Dead. It starts off in Los Angeles, and then there is some time spent in Mexico, as a dysfunctional, blended family figures out their way through the minefield that is surviving the zombie infection outbreak.
Nobody knows what's going on, and this group of survivors is made up of high school counselor Madison Clark and her fiance Travis, her children Alicia and Nick, Travis' son, Chris, and his mother, Liza, and others who have found them along the way of survival. Unlike The Walking Dead, which picked up weeks after the initial outbreak, Fear the Walking Dead threw us into the fight with unsuspecting, everyday people.
The first three seasons where highly praised, and then things took a turn for the worst during the fourth season. Morgan Jones, a character from the flagship series, arrived and encountered a group of survivors in Texas. It brought somewhat of a reboot that wasn't necessarily asked for, but it's still worth watching all the way to the end.
There's time to catch up! August 19, 2026, is when Fear the Walking Dead is slated to leave Netflix. You will still be able to watch all eight seasons on AMC+.
