'The Office': Why a Star's Kids Thinks Her Character Was 'Too Mean'

The Office ended in 2013, but the love for the characters continues. That's partially because the cast stays in touch years later. One of them revealed her teenager started watching the comedy and isn't a fan of her uptight character.

Angela Kinsey's Daughter Thinks Angela Was Too Mean to Phyllis

Angela Kinsey, Jenna Fischer, Craig Robinson, Creed Bratton, Oscar Nuñez and Ellie Kemper were on the AT&T Business panel on May 27. Kinsey, 54, said her teenage kids started watching the show and weren't fans of cat mom Angela Martin, according to PEOPLE.

"They started watching The Office with me, and they loved the show. They thought I was too mean to Phyllis. That was one of their biggest comments," Kinsey said. "But then Phyllis did come for Angela Martin, too. They were true frenemies, I would say. They could not believe the scene, though, where she threw the post-it notes in my face."

Phyllis (Phyllis Smith) was on the part planning committee with Angela and Pam (Fischer). Angela was often critical of Phyllis during their meetings. However, Phyllis got the last laugh by throwing a party that Michael (Steve Carell) said was the best one the office had ever had.

Kinsey and Fischer continue their deep dive into the show on the Office Ladies podcast. Smith, 76, revealed in her interview with them that she was a casting associate for The Office, and a director asked her to read Pam's part for one of John Krasinski's auditions. That led to her being written into a show with a character with the same first name.

However, Smith didn't know she'd gotten the role until wardrobe called her to pick out her clothes for a scene. That led to her playing Angela's frenemy.
