Jennifer Lopez Can't Stop Crying as Twins Head to College

Jennifer Lopez has spent the better part of 2026 in full comeback mode with a Netflixrom-com premiering June 5, a press tour in full swing, and a premiere at the Egyptian Theatre. But when she sat down with Jimmy Kimmel on Wednesday night, the moment that had the most impact had nothing to do with Office Romance.

Lopez's 18-year-old twins, Emme and Max, are heading to college in the fall. And she is, by her own admission, a complete wreck about it.

'Don't talk about it because we start crying,' she told Kimmel when he brought up the milestone. 'I've been crying for two months.'

The twins, whom Lopez shares with ex-husband Marc Anthony, are not only going to different schools, they graduated at different times as well. One of them walked the stage the morning after the interview aired. Lopez said she had spent months telling everyone around her that she was fine with it, that she wanted her kids to launch, that she was excited for them.

Then came the yearbook ad.

'Oh my god. When I tell you the tears...two days it took me to write those things,' she said. When Kimmel asked whether she'd written two separate messages or one shared entry for both twins, Lopez looked at him like he'd suggested combining their birthdays. 'Oh, Jimmy. No.'

She confirmed she will be moving them into their dorms herself (yes, including transporting the sheets from home) and remains convinced they will miss her cooking and come back quickly. Kimmel gently suggested that's not how it usually goes.

The conversation then moved to Office Romance, in which Lopez plays a high-powered airline CEO who falls for the company's new in-house lawyer, played by Ted Lasso Emmy winner Brett Goldstein. Goldstein co-wrote the script with Joe Kelly, and Lopez revealed the pitch that closed the deal.

'He sent a note that said, 'You're at the top of our list. It's a list of one. If you don't do the movie, we're not making it,' she told Kimmel. She'd gone in expecting Roy Kent and got something entirely different. 'He came in and he was just like, 'Hello.' And I was like, 'Oh, you're so sweet and kind.' It was such a beautiful surprise.'

Kimmel also floated the idea of Lopez becoming the next Bachelorette. She declined with some force.

'Are you crazy? I'm not doing anything to ruin how I feel right now,' she said. When he pointed out it seems hard for her to meet people otherwise, she was unbothered. 'I'll meet somebody somewhere one day. I'm good right now.'

Office Romance premieres June 5 on Netflix. The twins' colleges have not been disclosed.
