The Winner of 'Survivor 50' Is Revealed

It seems like forever and a day (well, 26 to be exact) that Survivor 50 kicked off. The record cast of 24 put together an absolutely historic season for the landmark installment of the hit CBS franchise. They weathered some of the most game-changing twists in the show's history. Power shifted back and forth throughout the postmerge, taking out some of the biggest heavy hitters and Survivor history. But, out of 24, only five remained entering the final few days of the game. And, in a game Christian Hubicki described as "narrative warfare," someone received the ultimate happy ending to their Survivor story, walking away two million dollars richer.

Check out our spoiler-filled recap for more information about the results from tonight's finale episode below, including who won.

Who won Survivor 50?

Aubry Bracco

A decade ago, Aubry Bracco blazed a trail through her heat-laden first season of Survivor: Kaôh Rōng. While she put forward an impressive game, making the Final Three, she ultimately lost in one of the most controversial endings in the show's history. In the years following, she would appear two more times, and was never to recreate that success completely again. Indeed, her last run in Edge of Extinction had Aubry's love of the game nearly extinct, as she pulled herself away from the community at large for years.

Eventually, though, Survivor came calling again. And, having changed immensely over seven years, she was ready to answer the call. While Aubry found herself on the outs early on, she was able to survive the first few postmerge votes with both an idol and some key allies. But she made it clear early on that a friend today could be a foe tomorrow (or vice versa). In an incredibly fluid postmerge, Aubry was Poseidon, jumping around from alliance to alliance to ensure she was always in the majority. When her back was against the wall the most, she weaponized information Ozzy Lusth had given her, helping engineer the biggest move of the season and locked her into an endgame alliance. And, just when she was becoming the biggest threat left on the beach, she won the final Immunity Challenge, guaranteeing she would make it to the Final Three once more. Facing the jury for the first time in ten years, Aubry was adamant to not let history repeat itself. And indeed, her ability to play the middle had her coming out on top, taking home the win.

Who was voted off on Survivor 50 tonight?

Jonathan Young

Jonathan came into Survivor 50 adamant to make sure his game was more than just catching fish and winning challenges. And while he was still able to do just that, his giant figure masked a subtle social and strategic game. Every time Jonathan was left out of the vote, he would immediately bounce back, turning the tables on those who had wronged him. And, on Day 25, he finally shook the monkey off his back from his first season, winning Final Four firemaking to guarantee his spot in the Final Three. Jonathan opened up about what he was able to accomplish based on his perception, earning him three votes from his tightest allies. But, ultimately, while deemed the "total package," the jury figured it wasn't a two-million-dollar one.

Joseph "Joe" Hunter

Given how successful Joe was on Season 48, he was eager to come into his second season and run the same strategy back. But, soon after entering the game, the fire captain realized the smoke these returning players were bringing, and to still be breathing, he needed to go low. So he pivoted away from the honor and integrity he's known for, dipping his toes into the waters of lying and deceit. Unfortunately, as much as Joe felt he changed his approach, many still thought his way of playing was an active obstacle, with there even being a "Joe-tation" to babysit him. So, while Joe was able to do what very few have, making it to his second final Tribal Council, he wound up with the exact same outcome: Third place.

Rizo Velovic

Rizo had mere days between trips to Fiji, coming back to Survivor 50 after a standout performance on Season 49. And, while many were not eager to work with a man who refers to himself as "RizGod," he was able to endear himself to the competition. And so the guy who was a Survivor superfan months ago suddenly found himself playing alongside people he idolized, notably forming a tight trio with Ozzy and Cirie Fields. But, as much as he was geeking out, Rizo never let that cloud what he needed to do to make sure he was in the best position to win. In the endgame, he flipped on his closest allies, hoping it would give him a better chance to get through to the Final Three. But, on Day 25, Rizo found himself with a frightfully similar case of deja vu from a month prior. Once more, he was put into Final Four firemaking, his fate left in his own, flint-holding hands. And once more, he went down in flames, becoming the last member of the jury just one day shy of the end.

Tiffany Ervin

Tiffany started out on the exact opposite trajectory of her first season, luxuriating in safety in the premerge. But she got hit hard in her very first vote of the season, as she lost her two closest allies in back-to-back votes. Despite being the clear outsider of the group, she kept her cool, able to fade into the background while alliances and threats gunned for one another. It was only a matter of time, however, that she would emerge at the forefront. The person with perhaps the lowest profile going into Survivor 50 was the biggest threat in the last few days. And, while she incredibly impressively fought a 5 vs. 1 battle to win a clutch Immunity Challenge, she came up one puzzle piece short the very next day, making her an easy consensus boot.

What happened with Jeff Probst at the Survivor 50 reunion?

Season 50 marked the first live reunion for the show in six years. And it's only fitting we had a major moment of live TV happen during the broadcast! During the airing of the episode, Probst accidentally brought Rizo out before he had lost the Final Four firemaking. The host said that Rizo would be the final member of the jury, already revealing the results before the challenge even happened. It's one of the most shocking moments in live reunion history, and the Emmy winner was quick to poke fun at it throughout the rest of the evening.

Will Survivor return for Season 51?

Yes! Little is known about Survivor 51 at this point. But we should expect Jeff Probst and company to return to our screens Wednesdays this fall.
