It's hard to believe that the iconic comedy film Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby premiered back in the summer of 2006. And now it's time to celebrate the 20th anniversary.
In order to do that, the movie will be returning to theaters nationwide this summer on June 28, June 30, and July 1, Variety reports.
The outlet further adds that the movie grossed more than $163 million worldwide when it was first released.
Starring Will Ferrell, John C. Reilly, Sacha Baron Cohen, Gary Cole, Michael Clarke Duncan, and Carley Bobby, the film follows NASCAR racing star Ricky Bobby, who is played by Ferrell. However, he and his best friend, Cal Naughton Jr., who is played by Reilly, are faced with a challenge as a French Formula One driver, played by Baron Cohen, outperforms Bobby and becomes the top driver.
It was written and directed by Ferrell and Adam McKay, with Jimmy Miller and Judd Apatow serving as producers.
And it earned rave reviews, with one iconic director calling it a great comedy in a past interview on "The Rich Eisen Show." Specifically, it began when Eisen asked Christopher Nolan what his favorite "remote drop" movies are.
"I mean, god, anything by [Stanley] Kubrick, you know? It's a remote drop," Nolan said. "And some of the great comedies too, I mean ‘Talladega Nights,' I'm never gonna be able to switch that up."
Eisen had to make sure he heard the "Oppenheimer" directly, to which he confirmed it by saying, "If you ain't first, you're last," which is one of Ferrell's famous catchphrases.
Fans are also excited to be able to screen the movie on the big screen.
"I've already purchased my ticket," one person wrote.
"I think it's one of the funniest comedies ever really," another person commented.
"I will be seated. Shake n bake," someone posted.
