Who Won ‘Jeopardy' Today? (May 20, 2026) Plus, the Final Jeopardy Answer

There are three things guaranteed in the world today: Death, taxes, and Jeopardy! being on. Believe it or not, the iconic game show has been on the air for over 60 years (though the modern incarnation we know and love technically debuted in 1984). Under the watchful eye of Ken Jennings (who himself was a record-breaking champion), Jeopardy! puts three people's trivia skills and reflexes to the ultimate test. And so many of the greats to grace those podiums started by simply watching the show as it aired on weekdays, as millions have done for over half a century.

Here's a spoiler-filled recap of who won Jeopardy! today, plus the answer to Final Jeopardy.

The clue: 51 DAYS AFTER THIS EVENT, EDWARD TELLER SAID THE UNITED STATES HAD LOST "A BATTLE MORE IMPORTANT & GREATER THAN PEARL HARBOR"

The answer: "What was the launch of Sputnik?"

D'Angelo controlled the board from the opening round, capping his victory by being the only contestant to correctly answer Final Jeopardy (after changing his answer at the last minute). He entered with a lead of $12,800, compared to William's $9,700 and Rosenberg's $1,400. His wager of $6,601 was a smart cover bet, ensuring it was enough to beat Williams if both got it right, accounting for Williams' maximum possible wager.

In the end, it didn't matter, since Williams got it wrong, as D'Angelo brought his final score to $19,401. Williams' run ends with 10 games and $224,902 total winnings. He is already locked in for the Tournament of Champions after his fifth game win, opposite this season's 31-game champ Jamie Ding.

One Redditor pointed out, "History was made today. Tristan becomes the first contestant in Jeopardy! history to end his run with exactly 10 wins," confirmed by The Jeopardy Fan.

D'Angelo will return on Thursday in hopes of defending his title.
