Everyone Is Ready for the ‘Miles High Club' TV Series, but T.L. Swan Takes Us Back to the Start (Exclusive)
When it comes to romance, there is one book series currently on the top of everyone's lips. It's the Miles High Club by T.L. Swan, which is being adapted into a TV series thanks to Amazon MGM Studios. However, she's not only the master of that book series. She's become the master of the genre.
Since 2014, Swan has captured our hearts with her steamy scenes. It started with Stanton Adore, and she's just recently published the first in a new series of novels, The Heart We Kept. However, in an exclusive interview with Parade, Swan explains how it all started and why. It turns out that the pressure was on!
For those who haven't read Swan's own story before, you may not be aware that it was all thanks to a 30-day free trial of MS Word. Swan was candid as she shared, "The business my husband and I had bought was failing, and what had started as a dream had become a nightmare."
While down on her luck, she decided to turn to self-help books, and one of them was The Secret. That's the one that helped change her "brain chemistry," as she explained it, and within two weeks, it was like fate was speaking to her.
"While cleaning out my garage, I found a box of old diaries with all the stories I had written when young," she shared with us, "I took it as a sign."
However, with the failing business, she couldn't buy the full subscription to MS Word, so she opted for the 30-day free trial, and it certainly gave her the push she needed, as she went on to share, "When I started that free trial, I knew I only had 30 days to get my first book written. I wrote every night once my family was asleep."
Writing wasn't just a hope of making money from a passion. It also became her escape and happiness during a darker time. Sure, there were times when she felt a little disheartened, especially during the days of slower sales for Stanton Adore, and she had to take a break from writing after breaking her back, but she explained, "My addiction to the thrill of writing had been well and truly ignited, so I kept going."
It was worth pushing through some of the harder moments because there was a loyal fan base out there. Dr. Stanton, her fifth book, "skyrocketed to number 1 on the American Amazon chart," and that's when Swan knew that "my readers, like me, were reading romance as an escape from daily life."
With the success of her first five self-published books, Amazon's publishing arm, Montlake, then got in touch to become her publisher. Of course, she thought it was a joke from her husband at first, as this had never been done before. "They had never signed an Australian author before."
And while that step was amazing, the romantic in her still wanted more. She yearned for the opportunity to see her books on the shelves, and that's what happened when Arndell got in touch intending to publish The Miles High series in U.S. bookstores.
"Having every book in that series hit the USA Today bestseller lists was honestly a dream come true," she gushed, "And having the publishing team at Arndell (an imprint of Keeperton) behind me with their never-ending support, help and guidance every step of the way has been surreal."
Speaking of the Miles High Club, it's the first series of her collection to land a TV series deal, and it's taken time to get there, "But it has absolutely been worth the wait!" Swan made clear.
"I'm so thrilled that it's coming to TV, and I can't thank my readers enough for their support," Swan wanted to make sure that fans know that she wouldn't be where she is without them.
Don't worry if you're thinking that the show will transform the books in a way that doesn't make sense. Swan confirmed, "I am an Executive Producer on the show, so yes, I'll be involved!" There are always elements that need changing for the sake of TV production, but the story itself doesn't need to shift in any way.
It's not just the new TV show fans are excited about. There's also the new steamy romance novel, The Heart You Kept, which is the first in the Kings of the Riviera series.
It's "set against the glamorous backdrop of the French Riviera - the casinos, the champagne, the old money, and luxury - it's a forbidden love story that's decadent, immersive and scorching hot."
Readers have met the billionaire casino owner, Edward Prescott, before from the Mr. series, but this story delves into a lot more.
"When reading, I love escapism, I want to be transported to a different, fun, and exotic dimension where I can let my imagination run wild," Swan discussed the inspiration for the latest of her steamy stories, "The thought of living in the French Riviera and meeting the love of my life, who also just happens to be an enigmatic, witty, and insanely hot billionaire definitely inspires me."
We can certainly see why! The Heart You Kept is available now with a beautiful deluxe cover with red and black sprayed edges that will immediately have you falling in love!
