Old Bay's Limited-Edition Commemorative Tin Celebrates the 151st Preakness Stakes

OLD BAY recently announced the addition of two commemorative tins. And the savory seasoning is set to celebrate one of the year's most anticipated horse races.

The second leg of the Triple Crown is almost here. On Saturday, May 16, the Preakness Stakes are off. And your favorite Chesepeak Bay brand is welcoming the Laurel Park, Maryland, event with a limited-edition can.

Did you know there's an official seasoning of the 151st Preakness? Well, just in case you didn't…there is. And it's OLD BAY. So it makes sense that the brand behind this sweet, spicy, and savory blend is doing something supremely special for the race. Giovanna DiLegge, Vice President of Marketing at McCormick & Company, said in a press release, "Preakness and OLD BAY are both woven into the fabric of the Chesapeake Bay Region." DiLegge continued, "This collaboration celebrates traditions that bring us together; whether we're gathering around the track or around a table covered with crabs."

John Suley, Senior Vice President, Hospitality & Venue at 1/ST added, of the Preakness pairing, "As an iconic part of the region's culinary identity, OLD BAY enhances our menu and the overall guest experience. This collaboration celebrates the local flavor that defines Preakness weekend while continuing a beloved tradition for fans."

OLD BAY debuted the floral-covered can on the brand's Instagram page. Fans flocked to the post, applauding the Preakness collectible. One commenter gushed, "OMG she's so pretty," while another wrote, "Delicious, I love how it's the tall one. Can't wait to get it!"

But wait, there's more! OLD BAY connoisseurs can collect not one, but two different limited-edition tins. Along with the Preakness theme, the brand is also releasing a second design, created by students from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA). Celia M. McCormick, President of the Maryland Institute College of Art, shared, "We are honored that McCormick, a global leader in flavor, chose to partner with Maryland College of Art faculty and students to create a unique OLD BAY tin for this summer season." McCormick also added, "This partnership is a perfect example of how the MICA Design and Innovation Hub expands learning beyond the classroom. For 200 years, MICA's education has transformed ideas into a real-world impact for Baltimore and beyond."

McCormick brands will debut the MICA-designed OLD BAY collector's tin at the school's ArtWalk on May 15th. You can score the exclusive item at the event, on OLD BAY's website, or from select retailers. But don't wait to nab yours. This limited-time drop won't last long!
