'View' Host Alyssa Farah Griffin Shares Update Following Baby Son's Emergency Surgery
After Alyssa Farah Griffin shared last week that her baby had to undergo emergency surgery, she let fans know that Justin Jr. has had a smooth recovery.
"He's doing so well," she said while chatting on The View's podcast, "Behind the Table" on Monday. "Babies are so resilient, they heal so quickly, he's not showing any discomfort, his sleep's a little disruptive-I'll take that any day of the week-he's got his scar but even that seems like it's healing unbelievably quickly."
"Going from seeing him in his ICU bed to being this vibrant happy smiling boy a week later was like the most incredible gift I could have asked for," she added.
The update comes after Griffin shared that her 3-month-old underwent an unexpected procedure. While she didn't disclose the details of why he needed the surgery she shared the struggles of dealing with the daunting situation as a parent. During Monday's discussion though, she shared how she trusted the medical experts.
"You are going to love your kids more than anyone else but part of loving him is trusting someone else to take care of them when the situation calls for it," she said. "That person's an expert with skilled hands who spent years of their life preparing to do that and they can give him something I can't give him."
The View host welcomed Justin Jr. with her husband, also named Justin, in February.
As a bit of relief from their time in the ICU, Alyssa also shared that the new family had a low key Mother's Day together, which coincidentally was baby Justin's 3-month birthday.
"It was so magical, we honestly had a cozy day at home," she said. "My husband got me flowers, he got me two beautiful gifts and we just spent the day enjoying little Justin...I'm not exaggerating it was one of the happiest days of my life."
"He was so much fun, and [it] just feels more and more everyday like his personality is coming out," she added. "I'm just in heaven, I'm in absolute heaven with him."
