Aston Villa won the semifinal game against English Midlands rivals, Nottingham Forest, on May 7 with a final score 4-0. The win solidified Villa's spot in the final of the Europa League. Aston Villa will play the final in Istanbul, Turkey, on May 20, but it is not known if Prince William will be there for the historic event.

William has attended other games this season and has enjoyed passing on the tradition to his oldest child, Prince George. The father and son attended a Villa game during a trip to Paris, France, in April during George's spring break from Lambrook School. William explained why it was so important to him to bring his son to Villa's first European quarterfinal at that time.

"I thought, it's been 43 years since anything like this has happened in my generation as a Villa fan, and I want George to experience a night out away from home in a big European competition," William told TNT Sports. "I hope it's not 43 years until the next time it happens, but I think those memories are really important to create and to bring him along tonight is a big deal for me."

William became a Villa fan during his days at boarding school after getting into soccer "big time."

"I was looking around for clubs. All my friends at school were either Man United fans or Chelsea fans, and I didn't want to follow the run-of-the-mill teams," he told the BBC in 2015. "I wanted to have a team that was more mid-table that could give me more emotional rollercoaster moments."

The Prince of Wales doesn't only feel passionate about his team at live events; he admitted that things get intense at home whenever a game is on.

"If we're not doing very well, I start moving round the house quite quickly, and I put the children in different positions hoping that's going to change our luck," he told The Sun in March 2025.

Soccer isn't the only thing that gets William on his feet - and it's not the first time his dance moves have gone viral. In June 2024, the future sovereign took his eldest kids, George and Princess Charlotte, to Taylor Swift's Eras Tour in London. Fan footage from the concert showed William letting loose during the song "Shake It Off." He had the top buttons of his dress shirt undone as he shook his shoulders to the beat while Charlotte stood nearby grooving to the 1989 hit song.

Swift stopped by to say hello to William, George, and Charlotte, with her fiancé, Travis Kelce, and the group snapped photos together. "Happy Bday M8! London shows are off to a splendid start 🇬🇧🇺🇸🤝," the Swift captioned her post, referencing William's birthday.
