Mountain Dew Introduces New Version of Limited-Edition Star Spangled Splash – And Fans Couldn't Be More Excited

The summer is officially on the horizon, bringing with it the promise of laidback outdoor barbecues, adventure-filled vacations and plenty of seasonal food and snack items in the coming months ahead.

With that being said, shoppers can look forward to a number of limited-edition offerings arriving this summer, including a brand-new version of Mountain Dew's Star Spangled Splash.

As fans might remember, Star Spangled Splash originally debuted as a limited-time flavor option from Mountain Dew, delivering a "red berry" forward flavor profile that featured a blend of strawberry, raspberry and citrus.

While many fans loved the unmistakable taste of the original bright red soda, Mountain Dew is rolling out a new version of Star Spangled Splash through their new partnership with Circle K.

According to Sporked, the beloved soda brand will be releasing a frozen version of Star Spangled Splash at the convenience chain, allowing fans to get their hands on the limited-edition soda in a fully dessert form.

While there's no word yet on when exactly the new Mountain Dew slushie will arrive, the item's release will likely coincide with the upcoming Fourth of July, effortlessly tying into the patriotic celebration with the country's 250th anniversary.

While we've yet to try the new slushie form of the soda ourselves, if past reviews are any indication, the new frozen version of Star Spangled Splash is sure to be a hit among longtime fans of the soft drink brand.

"Had this flavor yesterday for lunch and I can say that it was a tad bit better than Liberty Chill," one fan wrote on Reddit, comparing the flavor to another limited-edition Mountain Dew release.

"It wasn't nearly as overtly sweet," the user continued. "Anyways, I couldn't quite put my finger on what the red berry flavor was supposed to be. It tasted like either strawberry or cherry, which reminded me a lot of either code red or even citrus cherry burst. Solid flavor! 8/10."
