Jennifer Lopez's 2008 Outfit Ranked Among 'Worst Met Gala Looks of All Time'

Jennifer Lopez is no stranger to controversial looks, but one of her red carpet ensembles made it to the "worst Met Gala looks of all time."

As the biggest fashion event of the year rolled out the theme "Costume Art: The Dressed Body as Art," celebrities and fashion key players arrived in dress codes that spoke "Fashion is Art".

However, 18 years ago, the music icon stepped out on the iconic staircase together with then-husband Marc Anthony, leaving the public and media unimpressed.

In a list created by Business Insider, the publication compiled a roundup of the Met Gala's worst looks throughout the years.

Unsurprisingly, the "On the Floor" hitmaker was ranked as the worst-dressed attendee in 2008, with the outlet calling her look a dress intended "for a mother of a bride,

The fashion event shouldn't have been a challenge for the award-winning singer, as this marked her fourth time attending the Gala.

However, she failed to fully align with the theme "Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy," leaving her look slightly disconnected from the required dress code.

At the time, Lopez's outfit was created by the renowned Italian fashion designer Alberta Ferretti.

The design featured a seafoam blue gown with a pleated one-shoulder neckline, with a fully beaded neckline.

The "Let's Get Loud" singer completed the outfit with a sparkling silver clutch that perfectly matched her cuffed bangles and dangling earrings.

As for her look, her glam team opted for bronzy makeup, a trend that was popular during the 2000s.

Fortunately, she managed to bounce back from a fashion mishap after returning to the Met Gala in 2010.

After skipping the event in 2009, she delivered a head-turning moment during the 2010 Met Gala by appearing in a stunning hour-glass gown by well-known Lebanese fashion designer Zuhair Murad.

The floor-length gown, a signature look of the designer, featured a heavily embroidered and beaded bodice that made the actress shimmer on the iconic stairs.

Moreover, the custom strapless gray-silver ensemble was also designed with a lighter tulle skirt, making her look like a modern-day princess.

Lastly, she finished the outfit with a glam that represented an ethereal look with a glamorous updo and a smoky eye.

Unfortunately, the subsequent Met Gala appearances have been a hit or miss for Lopez, though none were quite as poorly received as the one she wore in 2008.
