You Can Now Book Hotels Through Uber-But Here's Why It's Actually Cool
Most of us use Uber for that frantic dash to the airport or the late-night ride home, but the company is making a major play to handle your entire vacation itinerary. At its annual "Go-Get" event in New York City, Uber announced that U.S. users can now book hotels directly within the app.
While "another booking site" might not always sound revolutionary, the integration here is a genuine logistics win for travelers who want to trim the mental load of managing multiple apps. Through a partnership with Expedia Group, Uber is opening up access to 700,000 hotels worldwide, with vacation rental inventory from Vrbo expected to join the lineup later this year.
Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi, who previously led Expedia for over a decade, is positioning the platform as a one-stop shop. "Uber is now an app for everything, where you can go, you can get, and now you can travel," Khosrowshahi said during the launch. "Life feels busier than ever-too many apps, too many steps, too many decisions... at Uber, our mission is to reimagine the way the world moves, so you can spend less time managing life and more time living it."

The real draw for frequent travelers-and specifically Uber One members-is the math behind the stay. Members will receive 20% discounts on a rotating list of 10,000 hotels and 10% back in Uber One credits on every booking. If you're already paying for the subscription to save on delivery fees, this effectively turns the app into a high-value travel loyalty program that rewards you with credits you'll actually use for your next ride to the terminal.

Beyond the checkout button, Uber is launching "Travel Mode" to act as a personal concierge. This includes a "room service" hub through Uber Eats, designed for those "forgotten travel essentials" delivered straight to your hotel door alongside curated local recommendations and restaurant reservations powered by OpenTable.
Perhaps the most interesting new perk for luxury travelers is "Eats for the Way." If you reserve an Uber Black, you can actually order a drink or snack to be waiting in the vehicle when it picks you up. Khosrowshahi noted, "Coffee waiting in your Uber? We heard you, and it's happening."
Whether you are looking for a boutique stay or just a way to consolidate your receipts, having your ride, your room, and your dinner in one interface is a major step toward a seamless travel day. As the company puts it, this evolution is about "helping you go, get and now travel."
