Maura Higgins Weighs In on ‘The Bachelorette' Casting Rumors
"Love Island" and "Traitors" star Maura Higgins is shutting down rumors that she will be the next "Bachelorette."
When asked about speculation that she would be taking the reins of the ABC dating series, Higgins told Entertainment Tonight, "Absolutely not."
"Come on guys, I'm 35," she said. "Do you know what? I don't want a man. I'm so happy. I don't want anyone in my space. I like coming home to my beautiful, clean house. I don't have to pick up their [expletive], and I honestly don't have time anyway."
Higgins - who set to appear on the upcoming season of "Dancing with the Stars" alongside "Summer House" star Ciara Miller - added, "I need to get my trophy so I can pop it in my free Birkin."
While Higgins isn't planning to hand out roses anytime soon, she first sparked speculation about potentially joining "The Bachelorette" last month after Deuxmoi shared a blind item claiming, "ABC exec friend said they are looking into getting Maura Higgins to be the new ‘Bachelorette' and do a live shooting of it."
"She would be SO good as ‘The Bachelorette'!" the post added.
Higgins responded at the time with an eyes emoji, further fueling rumors that she could become the show's new lead after Taylor Frankie Paul's season was cancelled by ABC.
Higgins' "Traitors" costar Lisa Rinna previously told E! News why she thought Higgins would be a good fit for the show.
“I think she should be the Bachelorette,” Lisa shared. “I think she should do everything, because she’s such good television. She can do it all.”
Rinna, 62, shared that she will also be cheering on Higgins as she competes for the mirrorball, saying, "I am so excited, because that was a life-changing experience for me."
The reality star - who was partnered with Louis van Amstel on season 2 of "Dancing with the Stars" - added, “It’s going to be life-changing for her. I was genuinely thrilled because I adore her. I love her so much and I just think it’s so fun to watch these kids having their moment.”
