'The Voice' crowns its Season 29 winner
April 15 (UPI) -- Singing competition series The Voice has crowned its Season 29 winner.
The final four contestants, Alexia Jayy, Liv Ciara, Lucas West and Mikenley Brown, appeared in the season finale Tuesday.
Jayy (Team Adam) was named the winner, becoming the first Black woman to win The Voice in the show's history. Liv Ciara (Team Kelly) was the runner-up, followed by Lucas West (Team John) and Mikenley Brown (Team Kelly).
Jayy's victory gave Adam Levine his first win as coach since Jordan Smith in Season 9. He and Jayy performed "Sunday Morning," a song his band Maroon 5 released in 2004.
"It's been a while, so I almost forgot what it felt like to win The Voice," Levine told USA Today. "This is a beautiful reminder, and what better person to win it with than Alexia. She's ridiculous, so insanely talented."
