2020 Best Golf Course: Canyon Lakes Golf Course
The only winner of this award over the course of eight years, Canyon Lakes prides itself on offering a top-notch golfing experience.
“We were blessed with the best piece of land in town,” head golf pro Matt Mandell said. “We have 18 straight good holes. No Mickey Mouse holes. It’s also a beautiful course. We have a view of everything from the 14th green. You can see all of the Tri-Cities, with the river.”
There also is beauty on the course with the signature fountain on Hole 9, and Hole 12 — at 12,000 square feet — is proudly touted as one the largest greens in the Pacific Northwest.
“When they designed this, they did it right,” Mandell said. “It’s a great walk through a park and you aren’t standing on top of people.”
Rated 4 1/2 stars by Golf Digest, Canyon Lakes is the highest-rated course in the Tri-Cities, and it shares the highest ranking in the state.
Golfers can buy a membership or golf by the round at Canyon Lakes. Booking a tee is advised for the busy course.
“Mike (Lundgren, owner) has done a good job of marketing the course,” Mandell said. “We take good care of our people. People want to be treated well, and we want to entertain people.”
