2020 Best Hair Stylist/Hairdresser: Mikenzie Murphy
The right hair color and style is important, and Mikenzie Murphy at Nouveau Day Spa is the go-to stylist in the Tri-Cities.
“She is the person in town,” Nouveau owner Kris Waltze said. “She is young, but we have let her take over the salon. She also understands the business side.”
Murphy, 25, is a mother of two little girls. She has been doing hair and nails for seven years, and makes it her mission to stay on top of the trends.
She is one of only two stylists in the Tri-Cities who is certified in Habit hand-tied hair extensions.
“No one really liked the glue or tape,” Murphy said of other types of extensions. “This has a more natural look.”
The key to making clients happy is listening to their needs, making their vision a reality, or being honest if what they want isn’t possible. But key among it all, is having the skill to get the cut and color right.
Murphy makes sure everyone leaves happy.
“I love my job,” she said. “I don’t think I could do anything else.”
