When Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis speaks Saturday in Pasco, it will be in front of a full auditorium.

Mattis is visiting the Pasco campus of Columbia Basin College to talk with veterans and their families in an event sponsored by the Columbia Basin Veterans Opportunity Center and Columbia Basin College VETS.

Initially the event was open to the first 500 people, but because of the event's popularity, organizers required tickets to see him.

Organizers then announced Monday that they reached their cap.

The college will offer overflow seating at the Social Sciences and World Languages Building near the campus' entrance, or people can watch the event live at columbiabasin.edu/mattis or www.facebook.com/veteransopportunitycenter.

There are no plans to allow people to submit questions remotely.
