Police: shooting reported in Kennewick hours after earlier drive-by
Kennewick police are looking for a suspect in a Thursday night shooting.
Juan R. Sanchez, 35, was the likely driver of a blue 2001 Volkswagen Jetta found abandoned with multiple bullet holes and the driver’s side window broken out, police said.
Officers were called to the 4700 block of West Metaline Avenue just before 8:30 p.m., police said. Reports indicated that there was a disturbance between two groups of people followed by multiple shots fired.
Those involved then left the scene in two vehicles, described as a dark blue Volkswagen Passat or Jetta with a broken front passenger side window and a black Cadillac sedan with tinted windows.
It is not known if anyone was injured in the shooting.
Earlier that afternoon, police began investigating a drive-by shooting at 1001 West Fourth Ave. No one was injured and officers closed off roads between South Kent Street and West Fourth Avenue.
Both investigations are ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 509-628-0333.
