Richland police are hunting for a man who tried to pay a girl to get into his SUV last week.

It was the second time this month that a girl reported someone attempting to lure her into a car. Police are not sure the cases are related.

In the most recent incident, the man was described as heavy set, in his 40s with gray and brown shaggy hair covering his ears. He approached the 12-year-old on Wellhouse Loop on Friday and offered her money.

Police released a photo of the car they believe the suspect was driving.

On Dec. 4, a man and woman in a pickup approached a girl near Carmichael Middle School and told her to get into their truck but just then her ride arrived and they drove off.

Anyone with information on either case is asked to call Detective Hyrum Stohel at 509-942-7369 or e-mail hstohel@ci.richland.wa.us.
