A hay truck fire has closed westbound I-82 near Ellensburg Washington State Patrol

A hay truck fire Tuesday closed westbound Interstate 82 near Ellensburg for almost seven hours.

The road closed around noon and reopened around 6:30 p.m., according to the state Department of Transportation.

Traffic was detoured to Highway 821 while firefighters and investigators worked the scene.

The semitruck hauling hay caught fire about seven miles east of Ellensburg, troopers reported.

The semi's driver, Ignacio Cianca, 22, of Kennewick, wasn't hurt, troopers said.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
