UPDATE: Police need help finding 2 Kennewick drive-by cars

Kennewick police are looking for two cars involved in a noontime drive-by shooting at a Kennewick Apartment complex.

Cars were hit with bullets but no people had been reported wounded, said Kennewick police.

The incident happened at the Clearwater Bay Apartments on West Clearwater Avenue near the Albertson's grocery.

Sgt. Aaron Clem said the confrontation started around noon when a man walked through the parking lot of the complex.

The man was confronted by someone in a gold or tan Toyota Camry, license plate BAX1321.

Clem said, at some point, the man threw a rock at the Camry.

"Things escalated from there," Clem said.

At least two people started shooting before two cars drove off, he said.

One was a the Camry and the other a maroon Chevy Impala.

At least one car was damaged before fleeing, Clem said.

Clem said that anyone who sees the Camry should call 911. He asked people not to follow the car.

A third car crossed Clearwater, crashed into a curb and stopped in the street. Kennewick police later posted a photo of the Chevy Sonic's hood with a bullet hole in it.

Clem said it's unclear if the car was involved or a bystander.

Kamiakin High School, Edison Elementary School and the Tri-Tech Skills Center were briefly locked down until police arrived and said the area was safe.
