People will need to wait a little longer before they get to see strippers on stage in Kennewick.

Kennewick officials denied City Stars Gentlemen’s Club’s business license application after the owners failed to turn in the necessary paperwork in time.

Greg McCormick, the city’s community planning director, explained this is not a death knell for the strip club that plans to open at 101 S. Gum St.

The city needed to make a decision on the application by Friday, and McCormick told the Herald the owners did not turn in construction plans for interior improvements in the building.

Once the plans are turned in, and the work is finished and inspected, the owners can submit another application.

“They kind of got the cart before the horse,” McCormick said.

Owners of the proposed club have applied for a liquor license for a sports bar that would share a wall with the strip club inside the former Lucky Bridge Casino building, near the cable bridge.

City Stars Gentlemen’s Club and City Stars Sports Bar will share the space but by law must be physically and legally separate.

City Stars is a limited liability corporation owned by Octavio Rodriguez and Hector and Jennifer Salgado, with addresses in Richland and Sunnyside.

The owners had hoped to open in December.
