Help a neighbor, get a freebie from Benton PUD
The Benton PUD wants to reward those who donate to its Helping Hands Program for customers in need.
It is offering an energy efficiency kit with a low-flow shower head and two LED light bulbs. Customers can also sign up for a home energy audit.
To qualify, Benton PUD customers must make a donation of at least $20 to Helping Hands, pledge a recurring monthly donation of at least $1 or increase their current monthly donation.
All money collected will be distributed by Community Action Connections to Benton PUD customers in need to help pay their electric bill. Cold temperatures may make it difficult for some people, including seniors on fixed incomes and those with disabilities, to keep up on their electric bill.
Providing the free kits helps the Benton Public Utility District meet conservation mandates required under the Energy Independence Act approved by voters as Initiative 937 in 2006.
The kits must be picked up at the Kennewick PUD office at 2721 W. 10th Ave. or the Prosser office at 250 N. Gap Road.
