Woman shot in the back in Benton City
A woman was shot in the back Friday evening at a Benton City apartment complex, said the Benton County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Jerry Hatcher said the victim is in stable condition at Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland. She remains incapacitated and is using a breathing tube.
Hatcher said the 22-year-old was in an apartment at the corner of Eighth Street and Della Avenue with several other people. She was shot in the back with a rifle, then someone rushed her to the hospital.
Officials have not determined if the shooting was accidental or intentional.
Deputies were searching the apartment Friday night in hopes of seizing the rifle and other evidence.
