Tri-City Americans’ Michael Rasmussen named to Canada’s Ivan Hlinka team
Tri-City Americans forward Michael Rasmussen was named to Team Canada for the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup.
Rasmussen, a native of Surrey, British Columbia, was one of 22 players chosen out of a pool of 44.
During his rookie season with the Americans, Rasmussen had 18 goals and 25 assists in 63 games.
Tri-City defenseman Parker Wotherspoon helped Team Cananda win gold last year.
Canada will be in search of its ninth consecutive gold medal when it hits the ice Aug. 8-14 in Breclav, Czech Republic, and Bratislava, Slovakia.
Canada will play in Group B with Russia, Slovakia, and Sweden. Group A consists of the Czech Republic, Finland, Switzerland and the United States.
